The RF/Microwave Signal Chain
This section will introduce transmit/receive signal chains and important characteristics for design and measurement that will be discussed throughout the following modules.

Network Characteristics, Analysis and Measurement
This section will cover transmission line basics, S-Parameters, and the Smith Chart.  Transmit, receive and directivity paths will be described along with how dynamic range and accuracy can be optimized.  Calibration and error correction will also be covered.

Impedance Matching Fundamentals
This talk will outline various types of lumped and distributed matching network topologies and approaches.  Several examples will be demonstrated using Keysight ADS for both lumped and distributed (microstrip transmission line elements) matching circuits.

RF Simulation
This section will illustrate the ADS RF/Microwave Design Simulation Tool.

Spectral Analysis
This section covers frequency and time domain sweep searching including RBW, VBW and dynamic range criteria for accurate measurements.

Signal Generation
This section covers CW signal characteristics, including phase noise, as well as signal synthesis and analog amplitude, phase, frequency and pulsed modulation.

Digital Modulation and Vector Signal Analysis
This section covers simultaneous amplitude and phase modulation, polar and I-Q format, and digital modulation signal characteristics and measurement.

Introduction to Simulation-Based GaN Power Amplifier Design
We will be focused on understanding the basic principles behind non-linear power amplifier design and will outline a simulation-based approach utilizing Keysight ADS, that starts with a non-linear GaN HEMT model and outlines a series of steps to accomplish a basic narrow-band PA Design that addresses stability considerations and is designed against a specific set of gain, power, efficiency and VSWR considerations.

Understanding Basic RF Analog Receiver Design and Analysis
This tutorial will provide an overview of the independent and integrated functioning of the various system blocks comprising a typical heterodyne down converting receiver, including mixing, amplification, image frequency filtering and adjacent channel filtering. Demonstrations in Keysight. ADS will be used to illustrate the impact of component specifications on overall sub‐system performance as well as how advanced simulation models, including X‐parameter‐based amplifier models, and scalable attenuator and filter models can assist with sub‐system design and optimization.

Antenna Basics
This section will be focused on fundamental principles that show how Maxwell’s Equations lead to Antenna Design by combining the Equations with Boundary Conditions .  The Essence of Antennas will be discussed as well as the Mechanism of Radiation.  In addition, this section will show how fundamental antennas can be used to create Multi-Band Designs and Internal Antenna Designs.
