The Graduate Student Challenge (GSC) will be offered at IMS2017 for its seventh season.  The program provides an opportunity for graduate students to team up with students from other institutions around the world to distill several papers from exciting topic areas into a proposed application of the underlying microwave theory and techniques.

The Graduate Student Challenge is open to all graduate students (MS/PhD) who are registered for the IMS2017.  Interested students must simply attend the kickoff event on Monday morning of IMS week to start the teaming process, after which posters are submitted before the Wednesday evening submission deadline.  These posters are then presented on Thursday morning to judges who represent very well-respected and well-known members of the microwave engineering community.  The winning team is announced at the closing ceremony, and they receive $2000 (to be split among the team).

Eligibility:

All PhD and MS students who are registered at IMS can participate in this event.

Event location:

All of the activities related to the GSC competition take place only during the IMS2017.

The Kickoff Meeting will be announced prior to the event.

Guidelines:

1. Aim of the GSC

Students are encouraged to form teams, conduct brain storming meetings, develop new ideas and propose applications based on the papers presented at the IMS and on themes indicated by the jury.

                Max members per team:  3

2. Preparation of the Poster

Each team will prepare a poster based on two papers presented at the IMS2017.

The poster will be presented during the GSC Poster Session.

3. Poster Delivery

Posters must be delivered by email to (TBA)

                Delivery deadline:          TBA.

Printed posters can be collected on TBA

4. Themes of the GSC 2016

The themes selected for the Challenge will be announced during the kickoff meeting.

5. Award Ceremony

The winner will be announced on Thursday, during the Student Luncheon. The winning team will receive a prize of $2000.
